Amethyst has been my Physical Therapist for several years. In that time she was able to alleviate my TMJ, has helped diminish my migraines and has helped me to work through back pain. When I sustained a severe fracture of my humerus, which required surgery, Amethyst got me through the worst of the pain and helped me regain use of my arm. In addition to her extensive knowledge of how the human body works, Amethyst is kind, caring and compassionate towards her patients. I highly recommend Amethyst for any PT needs you may have.

Amethyst is a wonderfully gifted physical therapist. She is very professional, but at the same time very caring, as she applies her knowledge and skill to the art and science of therapy. When I first met Amethyst, I had significant and constant neck pain due to arthritis. I had already been to other physical therapists and had not found any relief, but she was specifically recommended by a neurosurgeon. Daily medication had been my only aid, at that point. After seeing her for consistent therapy, my neck pain was totally relieved and I no longer take any pain medication whatsoever. I highly recommend her.

I could not possibly recommend Amethyst any higher! Her services have been life changing for me. Years of constant, debilitating neck pain was gone within a handful of sessions. She also has great “bedside manner” and truly cares about her patients and their progress.

AM PUTS THE "AM" IN AMAZING!!! I had four surgeries on my right leg, I came to her for my PT due to her experience in horse back riding. Having a PT know what my body needed to do to get back to riding was important. She listened to my goals, and made it clear what we needed to do to hit them. Kindest person I know, always made sure I was comfortable, and not in pain. I graduated PT 4 weeks early thanks to all her help!!

My shoulder was an old injury from about 5 years ago from falling from my horse. Like a typical horse person I waited until the pain was too much and my range of motion severely decreased and was having trouble sleeping because the pain would wake me up. After working with Amethyst I have almost complete range of motion and can play softball, volleyball and pull back my compound bow without the pain. Thank you!

Amethyst Barto is an amazing physical therapist. She is very skilled and knowledgeable about her work. She is excellent at diagnosing and finding the right techniques and therapies and exercises to help you heal and regain your abilities and strength. Her practice with the nerves is a tremendous bonus. I have been 10 months in therapy elsewhere trying to heal my knee. I am very pleased to have found Amethyst. Within a couple of her treatments, I feel I have regained the ability and strength to hike and enjoy a more active lifestyle again. Amethyst has also been working with me on my balance - again she has the knowledge to help with the best results possible. Amethyst is very personable, polite, punctual, pleasant and explains exactly what she is doing and how this will help you. Her directions are specific and easy to follow as she guides you through your work/routine. Amethyst is an enjoyable and excellent physical therapist! Thank you, Amethyst!

I was seen for chronic upper back pain by another therapist. They just showed me exercises and watched me perform them. I did not improve. I switched to Dr Barto. She performed a bunch of different techniques and my pain was resolved.

Doctor of Physical Therapy Amethyst Barto has knowledge of the human body that goes way beyond book learning, and the treating of the presenting problem. DPT. Barto has a wholistic approach when treating the injury versus just giving someone a few exercises, a walker, a cane, or a brace. Her passion and goal for her patients is to bring the body back into functioning without pain. DPT. Barto treated me when I had surgery for bunions on both of my feet. My surgeon recommended her to help me with the imbalance I was experiencing after surgery. She gave me the normal prescribed ankle exercises to help with balance, but she also went beyond the text book. She addressed my posture, and she re-aliened my foot which turned outward, because of a broken bone in my lower leg which I experienced as a young child. Her whole-body approach brought back quality of life and the ability to resume my normal activities without pain. Years later as I was stop waiting for traffic to clear, a motorcyclist hit my car from behind. DPT. Barto treated my injuries. She also started treatment for possible whip lash, even though I had not presented with pain at the time. She knew that whip lash could present days later. Because of her preemptive treatment, when I did present with neck pain, the recovery was less painful and shorter lived. I have sent many friends who have experienced a dysfunction of the body, or undergone surgery for an injury, to DPT. Barto. Each friend has gained relief from pain and was given back quality of life. There are few medical professionals who possess the skills, and have a passion for treating the body as a whole. She treats not just the presenting pain or dysfunction, but the whole body so the body can move pain free as it was meant to move. DPT. Barto’s wholistic approach to treating injuries and post-surgery issues has been exceptionally successful in treating me and my friends. DPT. Barto is passionate about helping the body to have mobility pain free. She has the skill and innate understanding to administer care beyond the injury that is presenting the pain. If you are seeking to improve mobility that has been limited by an injury or surgery, and if you are willing to do the work required to improve your quality of life, I recommend DPT. Barto.

I have been an equestrian for many years and as I got older I was seen regularly by my chiropractor. Even with chiropractic care I was not able to fully live a pain free life. I constantly had to figure out how to work around my limitations. My chiropractor was incredibly skilled and did amazing work - the adjustments just did not last very long for me. I realized I needed to deal with all of the connective structures to truly address my pain. I decided physical therapy was probably what I needed. Shortly thereafter, I met Amethyst Barto -through a mutual equestrian friend. When I found out she was a physical therapist I started to pick her brain. We talked about what PT was, about investing in myself and that I needed to complete a course of treatment to find the best results. Amethyst was straight forward, confident in her abilities and knowledge, and invited me to come try PT with her. Once we got started I quickly realized PT was exactly what I needed. The treatments were very simple, done regularly and really helped me to feel better. Over time we worked together to address all of my physical issues. Not only is Amethyst an incredibly likeable person, she is also a gifted physical therapist. She listens to what you are feeling and works with you to find what you are comfortable with doing to gain wellness. I would encourage anyone who may be thinking about PT to reach out to her and talk about what she can do for you. You will be glad you did!

I can’t recommend Amethyst enough! Or the the type of therapy she offers that is sooo hard to find. I have many old injuries from horse accidents and never letting anything properly heal along with just basically constantly doing more than my body can handle. In just even one session we were able to address some things that until they were pointed out I never truly realized exactly what was going on. She helps you be aware of what your body is or isn’t doing and address it from there. I’ve done countless different kinds of therapies like sports medicine, chiropractic, PEMF and even other “MyoFascial” therapists. Some have helped, some just hurt and made me hurt worse. Nothing actually addressed the root of the problems. She is undoing years of abuse to my body and I’m getting more even, and loosening muscles that have been locked up giving me range of motion I haven’t had and less pain. Sometimes a session might not seem like much but I promise you it IS and it IS doing something!

Practice Interventions
Manual Therapy
Manual Therapy is a hands on approach utilized to mobilize joints, soft tissue structures including muscles and fascia, tissue of the nervous system and the spine.
Myokinesthetic System (MYK)
The MyoKinesthetic System (MYK) evaluates the root cause of pain and dysfunction within the nervous system, then rebalances it using muscle stretching and movements.
Visceral Mobilization
Visceral mobilization is a highly skilled and specialized manual treatment technique which treats a person's viscera (contents within the body). This is a way to address functional and structural imbalances with an aim to affect their musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous, urogenital, respiratory, digestive, and lymphatic dysfunction.
Therapeutic Exercise
After the root cause of the patient’s pain and dysfunction is discovered and addressed, a series of specific, functional and efficient exercises will be prescribed in order to maintain progress achieved in sessions as well as further enhance daily function, recreational performance and overall wellness.

Our Service Delivery Philosophy
Our physical therapy services prioritize accessibility, convenience and outcomes for our patients. We offer services without involvement with insurance companies or third-party payers, allowing us to create a closer relationship with our patients without the added constraints and delay of navigating insurance requirements. This personalized approach eliminates the stresses and limitations that often come with insurance coverage and instead puts the focus on the patient's needs and goals, encouraging them to achieve optimal and efficient results with our support and guidance.
This model further assists us in the ability to continue to treat patients with one on one attention, individualized treatment plans and with the highest standard of care by our Doctor of Physical Therapy. Dictations by the insurance companies regarding type of care, appointment approvals and reimbursement rates force many physical therapy clinics to treat multiple patients at one time, reducing the quality of care and amount of time spent with each patient as well as force clinics to utilize therapy assistants or therapy techs to complete care. This will never be the case at Acclivity Integrated Physical Therapy as your experience and outcomes are a priority to us!
We recognize and appreciate how valuable your time is. The results of eliminating third party payers have proved superior as patients are not only able to achieve their goals more quickly but to surpass expectations within the same time frame, or sooner! This is due to the ability to provide quality care for every minute of every session with the patient.
With the ability to maximize our time together also comes the reduced need to see patients as frequently compared to a traditional model. Rather than commuting to a physical therapy clinic 2-3 times a week, time for the patient is saved by a Doctor of Physical Therapy coming to you typically one time a week, resulting in less time taking the patient away from doing the things they love, providing for their families or spending time with the people who mean the most to them. Our goal is to add quality to your life, never taking you away from what is important!
While we do collect our fees directly from our patients, we can provide an itemized superbill to submit to their insurance company. By submitting this, you may be able to be reimbursed a percentage of the cost you have paid from your insurance company.
